Eliyahu Gasson was a reporting intern with the Next Generation Newsroom during the Spring 2025 semester. Originally from Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill South neighborhood, he studies journalism at Duquesne University, where he will serve as an editor for The Duquesne Duke, the university’s student-run newspaper, beginning in his junior year. In that role, he covers campus news as well as stories from across the region.
Eliyahu was also the vice president of Duquesne’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, helping organize events that highlighted the importance of journalism and the First Amendment. Outside of the newsroom, he enjoyed reading about politics and photographing life around the city.
During his time with NGN, Eli wrote stories that were picked up by multiple regional outlets. As of Summer 2025, he is continuing to grow his reporting experience through a news internship at 90.5 WESA, Pittsburgh’s NPR station.
