Amaya Lobato Rivas

Amaya Lobato Rivas is a photojournalist and storyteller originally from Puerto Rico. She completed a photojournalism internship with the Next Generation Newsroom during the Spring 2025 semester.

Amaya graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh, earning a degree in Media and Professional Communications and a minor in Film and Media Studies. While in Pittsburgh, she focused on honing her storytelling skills through visual journalism. Her stricking photography was featured in multiple stories picked up by news outlets across the region. She also previously interned at PublicSource.
